Darwin is the capital of the Northern Territory and one of the most popular places to visit in Australia. The city is a hub for marine and other aquatic research, with the famous Charles Darwin Research Station nearby. 

Another of Darwin’s claims to fame is the Kakadu National Park, where you can see ancient rock art and wildlife, like the saltwater crocodiles that live in nearby rivers. Darwin is a great place to stay if you want to visit the Top End of Australia or go on an expedition to see Australia’s Northern Territory from the inside out.

Kakadu National Park is an Australian National Park in the Top End of the Northern Territory that is famous for its spectacular landscapes and abundant wildlife. To the indigenous people of the area, the park is a spiritual site, with rock art and ceremonial sites dotted across its expanse. The park is home to many different species of plants and animals, including the saltwater crocodiles that frequent the rivers. 

The most famous feature of Kakadu National Park is the towering gorges of the Riversleigh sandstone plateaus, which are filled with an abundance of wildlife. These gorges are an open-air museum, with thousands of ancient rock art paintings, dinosaur fossils, and other archaeological sites. Visitors can paddle, walk, or cruise along the gorges’ waterways to see the wildlife and landscapes up close.

Alice Springs is a desert oasis in the middle of central Australia and a must-visit if you are traveling to the Northern Territory. The city is surrounded by desert landscapes, with sights such as the iconic MacDonnell Ranges and the nearby Aboriginal art galleries. Visitors can go on a hot air balloon ride over the desert or attend the world’s largest music festival, the Central Australian Blues and Roots Festival. 

Central Australian Wildlife Park is a small zoo nearby to Alice Springs. The park is famous for its “conservation through commerce” philosophy, with a focus on breeding endangered species for release into the wild, such as bilbies and marsupials. Visitors can get up close to kangaroos, wallabies, birds, snakes, and other Australian animals.

If you love adventure, the Northern Territory is a great place to visit. You can go on a crocodile cruise, visit the Aboriginal communities, go on an Ayers Rock sunset tour, and so much more. If you have time, you can even visit both the East and West MacDonnell Ranges, which are famous for their dramatic rock formations and desert landscapes. 

For wildlife lovers, there are various wildlife parks around the Territory where you can get up close to kangaroos, wallabies, koalas, and other Australian animals. You can also go on a cruise or visit some of the nearby islands, like the famous Crocodile Island. You can also visit the Top End and go to the famous Kakadu National Park or go on a tour of the famous Aboriginal rock art.
